Molding bits are available in different sizes and shapes. Here are some of the useful types of molding bits you can utilize for your next woodworking project:

1. Crown Molding Bevel 52º/38º Angle Bit. With a fully covered ball bearing guide, this 2 flute carbide tipped molding bit is used to decorate crown and cornice with 52 degrees or 28 degrees bevel angle. To make the opposing angles, just adjust the router table fence using the ball bearing guide then move one edge to face up, and the opposite edge face down. The usual size of crown molding is 1 ½ inch.

2. Chair Rail Molding router bits. Using a table mounted router, chair rail molding bits are useful for decorating chair rails, cabinetry, base caps, picture frames and panels.

3. Crown/Cornice Molding Bits. Crown or Cornice bits are used for decorations with their 2 flute carbide tipped features. To use them, use a fence to create multiple passes then remove about 45-degree excess.
